Being an avid outdoorsman, Mark joined the Marine Corps at 22 and spent close to 10 years conducting operations for the recon and sniper communities. From 2012-2016 he was the chief instructor for the Marine Corps Mountain Scout Sniper and Mountain Survival courses. . In 2017, Mark started International Mountain Survival where he teaches individuals and groups how to shoot, hunt, and survive. Think military special operations mixed with expert backcountry instruction. "The Mountain Program" is a year-long journey IMS puts on for civilians that is 16 in person training days, 4 days in every season of the mountains. It builds individuals from the ground up making them the most deadly, self-sustaining versions of themselves possible. This program only allows 6 students a year and holds the record for the most challenging and meaningful course a civilian can go through to hone their skills in the outdoors and in their everyday life. "We give them all the knowledge needed to be completely self-sustaining in the mountains while forging their mental toughness." The program brings in instructors with specialized backgrounds in military special operations, physical training , professional mental coaching, and expert backcountry sustainability.
In 2021 Mark started his own winery in Washington called The Woodsman Selection. With each interactive wine bottle, he hopes to encourage people to get outdoors and try their hand at archery, hunting, survival, and fishing. When Mark isn’t working, he can be found spending his free time with his 5-year-old son Max.
